Metarchèos
Benedetto Gulino completed his two-year thesis in Electronic Music, specializing in Digital Audiovisual Composition. Professor Valerio Murat supervised his research, which delved into the intersection of sound and visuals in Virtual Reality. His thesis focused on Metarchèos, a VR application that allows immersive exploration of sound architectures. Each architecture represents different stages of creative thinking. Users are guided through a gradual structuring of compositional material, starting from disorder, symbolizing primordial chaos, and culminating in the abstraction of forms and sounds.
The artistic experience is divided into four levels: Metarchèos IV from "Chaos" to the "Cavern of Quietude." Metarchèos III spans from the cave of the "Primordial Tongue" to the orchestral sphere of "Revelation," passing through the choral one called "Ainulindale." Metarchèos II includes the electroacoustic dome "Revolution" and the "Audiovisual Pantheon." Lastly, Metarchèos I unveils the infinite horizon of the final glass sphere known as the "Firmament." Each level offers a unique journey through different artistic realms, guiding the audience through a progression of themes and experiences.
